OKE OLUROPO TO HEADLINE IBADAN WORKSHOP ON INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, COPYRIGHT, AND BOOK PIRACY
The Oyo State Coordinator of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Ibadan Office, Mrs. Oke Oluropo Christiana, has been announced as the Guest speaker at a one-day workshop on Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Book Piracy. The workshop is scheduled to hold on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at the Board Room of the Oyo State Library Board, Opposite Cocoa House, Dugbe, Ibadan, Oyo State, commencing at 12:00 PM.
This was disclosed in a press statement issued by the convener of the workshop, Mr. Wole Adedoyin, who expressed excitement over Mrs. Oke’s participation, emphasizing her wealth of experience and the critical role she plays in intellectual property protection and copyright enforcement in Nigeria.
The Workshop on Intellectual Property, Copyright, and Book Piracy marks the inaugural edition of Ibadan Book Talk, an initiative dedicated to enhancing the skills of writers and enriching the literary culture in Ibadan and beyond. This program aims to provide a dynamic platform for book lovers, writers, and publishing professionals to exchange knowledge, delve into contemporary issues within the literary space, and foster a vibrant reading culture.
The event is organized by the Ibadan Book Club (IBC) in collaboration with the Redeemed Writers Network (REDNET) and Global Word Crafters (GLOWCRAFT). The workshop aims to educate writers, publishers, editors, artists, journalists, and other creatives on intellectual property rights, copyright laws, and combating book piracy.
The workshop will focus on practical strategies and legal insights to empower participants.

Mrs. Oke Oluropo Christiana, the Oyo State Coordinator of the Nigerian Copyright Commission (NCC), Ibadan Office—overseeing Oyo, Osun, and Ekiti States—has been a pivotal figure in driving the NCC's campaigns against copyright infringement.
