AKINWANDE, NDUKWO, AJALA TO HEADLINE OYO READS FEBRUARY READING

 

The literary landscape of Oyo State is set to flourish as the Ibadan Book Club, in collaboration with the Writers League of Oyo State  announced the participation of three distinguished Ibadan-based female writers in the upcoming February edition of Oyo Reads Project. Akinwande Funmilayo Theresa, Ndukwo Mary Chidinma, and Ajala Titilayo Deborah will grace the event with their literary prowess and insightful perspectives.

According to a statement issued by the founder of the Ibadan Book Club, Wole Adedoyin, the event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the prestigious Oyo State Library Board, situated Opposite Cocoa House, Dugbe Ibadan, commencing at 12:00 PM. The event promises to be an enriching experience for literature enthusiasts and aspiring writers alike.

Oyo Reads is a groundbreaking project aimed at democratizing access to literature by bringing readings to the nooks and crannies of Oyo State. It serves as a beacon of cultural enrichment, fostering an environment conducive to the exchange of ideas, networking opportunities, and constructive critique.

The February edition of Oyo Reads Project promises to be a celebration of creativity, diversity, and the power of literature to inspire, educate, and provoke thought. Attendees can look forward to engaging discussions, thought-provoking readings, and an opportunity to connect with like-minded individuals passionate about the written word.

AKINWANDE FUNMILAYO THERESA is a multifaceted individual with a diverse array of talents and responsibilities. She serves as the author and editor of the esteemed Christian publication, Anointing Encounter Magazine. In addition to her literary pursuits, Funmilayo Theresa is actively involved in various community organizations, holding positions such as the financial Secretary of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) in Oyo State, and Assistant Coordinator of CLMOI in lbnw North West local government.

Her dedication to serving others extends beyond the realm of literature, as she fulfills roles such as Secretary to Watchmen Life Prevailing Mission and Deaconess at C.A.C. Oke-lbukun Ekerin Ologuneru, Ibadan. She also serves as the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of Minister to Ministers Network International, Oyo State chapter.

In addition to her community involvement, Funmilayo Theresa is a talented fashion designer, caterer, and song composer. She shares her artistic talents not only through her writing but also as an accomplished artist and teacher at ED Harrison Mission in Nigeria. Furthermore, she utilizes her skills in sales as an Executive Sales Representative for Noble F.M 107.1 in Ologuneru Gbopa, Ibadan.

Through her diverse talents and unwavering commitment to service, Funmilayo Theresa positively impacts both her local community and beyond

NDUKWO MARY CHIDINMA is a versatile Nigerian writer, passionate about poetry, prose, and drama. She is a Fellow of the Ebedi International Writer's Residency. With a rich literary background, Ndukwo previously served as the Secretary of the Ibadan Book Club, further cementing her commitment to the literary community.

Beyond her literary pursuits, Ndukwo is also a skilled lifeguard and swim instructor, adding depth to her diverse skill set. She holds a writing residency certificate from the esteemed Ebedi International Writer's Residency, showcasing her dedication to honing her craft.

A fervent feminist and advocate for the girl child, Ndukwo actively works towards empowering women and advancing gender equality. Her writing serves as a powerful tool for advocacy, as she fearlessly tackles important societal issues in her work.

Ndukwo's diverse portfolio has been featured in various Nigerian magazines, highlighting her talent for exploring new perspectives and shedding light on pressing social issues. With her passion for literature and advocacy, Ndukwo Mary Chidinma continues to make a meaningful impact within and beyond the literary sphere.

 

AJALA TITILAYO DEBORAH is currently pursuing her education at Osun State Polytechnic while simultaneously serving as the Coordinator of the institution's Book Club. She is also the talented author behind "Such Is Life." Engaging with literary communities beyond her campus, Ajala Titilayo Deborah is an active member of both the Society of Young Nigerian Writers and the Ibadan Book Club. Her passion for literature shines through her academic pursuits and her commitment to fostering literary engagement among her peers.
