IBADAN BOOK CLUB LAUNCHES IBADAN BOOK TALK TO EMPOWER WRITERS
Ibadan Book Club (IBC), an initiative of Read Across Nigeria (RAN), has unveiled an innovative book reading and discussion program, Ibadan Book Talk, aimed at enhancing the skills of writers and enriching the literary culture in Ibadan and beyond. The initiative seeks to provide a platform for book lovers, writers, and publishing professionals to share knowledge, explore contemporary issues in the literary space, and promote a vibrant reading culture.
This development was announced in a press statement by the Founder of Ibadan Book Club, Wole Adedoyin. He highlighted that the program would delve into various topics, including writing techniques, publishing trends, book marketing strategies, content creation, Copyrights and Intellectual Property, broadcasting, and literary journalism, offering value to both budding and established writers.
Over the years, Ibadan Book Club has pioneered numerous impactful projects, including “Oyo Reads,” “Ibadan Reads,” “Read Nigeria Project,” and the “Write and Publish Project.” These initiatives have significantly contributed to promoting literacy and fostering a strong reading culture in Oyo State and across Nigeria. With the launch of Ibadan Book Talk, the club continues its tradition of empowering literary enthusiasts and bridging knowledge gaps within the literary community.
According to Adedoyin, the Ibadan Book Talk will feature seasoned authors, editors, publishers, and industry experts as guest speakers. It will also provide opportunities for interactive sessions where participants can exchange ideas, network, and develop their literary craft. The program is designed to be inclusive, catering to a diverse audience ranging from aspiring writers to avid readers and professionals in the literary ecosystem.
The initiative aligns with the broader objectives of Read Across Nigeria (RAN), a registered organization with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) under Registration Number 7496657. RAN has consistently championed initiatives aimed at improving literacy levels, nurturing creativity, and supporting the growth of Nigerian literature.
Speaking further on the significance of the program, Adedoyin emphasized the need to address challenges faced by writers and readers, such as access to quality resources, knowledge of publishing standards, and effective book promotion strategies. Ibadan Book Talk aims to fill these gaps by offering practical insights and real-world solutions.
The maiden edition of Ibadan Book Talk is scheduled to hold in the coming weeks, with details to be announced soon. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in stimulating discussions and gain valuable skills to enhance their writing and publishing endeavors.
Ibadan Book Club has been a beacon of literary innovation in Nigeria, hosting events, workshops, and reading sessions that inspire creativity and intellectual growth. Through Ibadan Book Talk, the club reinforces its commitment to fostering a sustainable literary culture that empowers individuals and enriches communities.
