Why SYNW established book clubs in different locations across Nigeria

 

WHY SYNW ESTABLISHED BOOK CLUBS IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS ACROSS NIGERIA


 

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) has recently announced the establishment of book clubs in different locations across Nigeria, aimed at promoting a reading culture among young people in the country. The SYNW President, Wole Adedoyin, has given reasons for this initiative, highlighting the importance of encouraging book reading and intellectual development among young Nigerians.

The SYNW is a non-governmental organization that aims to promote and develop creative writing and reading culture among young Nigerian writers. Since its establishment in 2010, the organization has made significant strides in achieving this objective, including the establishment of the first book club in Ibadan in 2011 and the Osogbo Book Club in 2012.

The establishment of additional book clubs in different locations across the country is a testament to the organization's commitment to promoting reading culture among young Nigerians. The SYNW believes that the establishment of these book clubs will serve as a platform to encourage young people to read, share ideas and engage in intellectual discourse.

The SYNW book clubs have been established in different locations across the country, including Lagos, Oyo, Ogun, Ekiti, Kwara,Edo, Osun, Kaduna, Kano, Ondo among others. These book clubs are open to young Nigerians between the ages of 15 and 45, with a keen interest in reading and literary activities.

Through the book clubs, the SYNW aims to promote literacy and intellectual development among young Nigerians. This initiative is expected to promote a culture of reading among young people and provide them with the opportunity to explore different genres of literature and expand their knowledge.

The SYNW believes that the establishment of these book clubs will also promote the development of writing skills among young Nigerians. Members of the book clubs will have the opportunity to engage in writing workshops, mentoring programs, and other literary activities aimed at developing their writing skills.

The SYNW book clubs will also serve as a platform for promoting cultural exchange among young Nigerians. Members of the book clubs will have the opportunity to read and discuss literature from different parts of the country, promoting cultural diversity and tolerance.
