How Dr. Remi Adedokun’s support Helped Establish the Society of Young Nigerian Writers

HOW DR. REMI ADEDOKUN’S SUPPORT HELPED ESTABLISH THE SOCIETY OF YOUNG NIGERIAN WRITERS (SYNW)

The Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) is a platform for young and aspiring writers to develop their writing skills and gain exposure. The Society owes its success in large part to the efforts of the late Dr. Remi Adedokun, who played a critical role in the growth and development of the organization.

One of the most significant contributions made by Dr. Adedokun was his assistance in securing the former House of Prof. Wole Soyinka as the national secretariat of the Society. The house was used as a venue for holding SYNW's quarterly workshops and programs such as Fagunwa Day.

This provided the Society with a stable base of operations, which helped to establish it as a credible organization in the eyes of the public. In addition to providing a venue, Dr. Adedokun was also a regular participant in the activities of the Society. His presence at the events lent credibility to the organization and helped to inspire confidence in the young writers who were part of the group.

Dr. Adedokun was also involved in the documentation and archiving of some of the activities of the Society. This was important because it helped to preserve the history of the organization and provided a record of its growth and development over time.

Another area in which Dr. Adedokun was instrumental was in providing refreshments during SYNW's workshops and events. This may seem like a small contribution, but it played a significant role in creating a welcoming and supportive atmosphere for the young writers who were part of the organization.

Dr. Adedokun also served as a lecturer/presenter in many of the workshops organized by the Society. His expertise in the field of literature and his passion for writing inspired and motivated many of the young writers who attended these workshops.

Perhaps one of Dr. Adedokun's greatest contributions to the Society was his unwavering support for the organization and its members. He was always available to offer advice, guidance, and encouragement to the young writers who were part of the group. This support helped to create a sense of community and belonging among the members of the organization.

Dr. Adedokun's commitment to the Society was evident in his willingness to go above and beyond to help the organization succeed. For example, he was known to use his personal resources to support the Society's activities when necessary. Dr. Adedokun was also a role model for the young writers who were part of the organization. His success as a writer and his passion for literature served as an inspiration for many of the members of the Society.

Finally, Dr. Adedokun's contributions to the Society went beyond his involvement in the organization itself. He was also a respected scholar and writer in his own right, and his achievements in these fields helped to elevate the profile of the Society and its members.
