Paul Omeje To Headline Ibadan Book Club September Book Spotlight

 PAUL OMEJE TO HEADLINE IBADAN BOOK CLUB SEPTEMBER BOOK SPOTLIGHT

The Ibadan Book Club (IBC) has announced that distinguished Nigerian business leader, entrepreneur and author, Mr. Paul Omeje, will headline its September Book Spotlight scheduled for Saturday, September 26, 2026, in Ibadan, with his forthcoming novel, Apata Boys, as the major focus of the literary session.

The Book Spotlight will take place at 12:00 p.m. at the Oyo State Library Board, opposite Cocoa House, Dugbe, Ibadan, and is expected to bring together writers, readers, students, literary enthusiasts and members of the public for an engaging afternoon of literary conversation.

According to a press statement issued by the Founder of the Ibadan Book Club, Mr. Wole Adedoyin, the September edition will provide participants with the opportunity to engage directly with Omeje on Apata Boys, a cinematic Nigerian crime novel set in 1980s Apata and Ibadan.

Adedoyin said Omeje would talk extensively about the forthcoming novel, including the inspiration behind the story, its setting, characters, themes and creative development. Participants will also have the opportunity to interact with the author, ask questions and gain insights into the experiences and ideas that shaped the work.

He described the September Book Spotlight as another opportunity for the Ibadan Book Club to promote reading culture, celebrate Nigerian writers and create a platform for meaningful literary interaction.

Apata Boys is a forthcoming Nigerian crime novel that takes readers into the social and cultural landscape of 1980s Apata and Ibadan. Through its cinematic storytelling, the novel explores the lives, experiences and circumstances surrounding its characters while drawing from the distinctive atmosphere and realities of the period.

Omeje brings to the conversation a background that cuts across business, technology, market execution and storytelling. As the Chief Executive Officer of Fonxxa Technologies, he has built experience in commercial strategy, team development, technology and market execution.

His professional experience across FMCG sales, AI-enabled technology and Nigerian storytelling gives him a distinctive perspective on audience engagement, creative positioning and the process of transforming ideas into compelling stories.

Omeje is a graduate of Mass Communication from Auchi Polytechnic and has undertaken early screenwriting work registered with the Writers Guild of America West, USA. His transition from business and technology into literary storytelling is expected to form part of the wider conversation at the Book Spotlight.

The Ibadan Book Club also expressed its profound appreciation to Dr. Awele Ilusanmi, FANA, President of the Literary Authors Cooperative Multipurpose Society of Nigeria and Founder of Book Marketing Class Africa (BMACA), for her unwavering monthly support to the Club.
