Ibadan Book Club Appoints Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia Patron

 

IBADAN BOOK CLUB APPOINTS OYIN-ADEJOBI OMOTOLANI SADIA PATRON

 

Ibadan Book Club (IBC) has appointed Mrs. Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia as its patron.

 

In a statement signed by the Chairman and Secretary of the Club, Ayobami Odunyemi and Hassanat Ayoade said the organization appointed the new patron considering her commitments and support to the growth and development of reading culture in Oyo state and the club in particular.

 

Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia is a Nigerian academic, publisher and author. She is one of the founders of the Polytechnic of Ibadan Writers Forum; a forum created in 2013 to hone and enhance the writing skills of up and coming writers within the Polytechnic of Ibadan community. The Forum, years back featured Rotimi Babatunde, winner of the 2012 Caine Prize for African writing with his book titled Bombay Republic as one of her guest writers.

 

Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia holds degrees in English and Mass Communication from the Prestigious University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State. She is currently an academic staff of The Polytechnic, Ibadan and the Governing Council Representative, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

 

As a talented and prolific author, Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia has written and published many literary books. She had been invited by different literary associations to give talks on issues bordering around publishing, creative writing and language development.

 

Also, apart from being an avid reader, Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia is an advocate of the reading culture.

 

Omotolani’s quest for scholarship is quite inspiring, as a number of her academic papers have been published in national and international journals. She had also taught in Kwara State University as an Adjunct Lecturer.

 

Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia is a member of different professional bodies such as the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA), Women in Technical Education (WITE), Linguistic Association of Nigeria (LAN), Reading Association of Nigeria (RAN), Nigeria English Studies Association (NESA) to mention but few.

 

Apart from being a committed and active member of the Association of Nigerian Authors, Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia had also served as Treasurer of the Oyo State Chapter of the Association.

 

The Ibadan Book Club consists of a group of people who meet, meet monthly to discuss the book they have read and exchange those books. Club members encourage each other and learn to read with a critical mind, articulating their opinions about a particular book with others. Certain types of books not available or read receive attention through the book club.

 

Some of the publications published by Ibadan Book Club are: Olubadan Centennial Anthology: a collection of essays, articles, poems and works of art in honor of Oba (Dr.) Samuel Odulana, Odugade 1, Voices from Oja Oba Market and Finally, Senator Abiola Ajimobi: Memories, Dreams, Reflections of a Mind Always in Motion.

IBADAN BOOK CLUB CONGRATULATES OYIN-ADEJOBI OMOTOLANI SADIA ON HER EMERGENCE AS GOVERNING COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE, THE POLYTECHNIC, IBADAN.

 

Ibadan Book Club (IBC) has congratulated Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia, a publisher and author on her emergence as Governing Council Representative, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

 

According to a statement released by Ibadan Book Club Coordinator, Mrs. Ayobami Odunyemi in Ibadan yesterday commended and described the emergence of Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia as a well-deserved and befitting one and a round peg in a round hole.

 

While expressing optimism that the former Treasurer of the Oyo State Chapter of the Association of Nigerian Authors (ANA) will do the Polytechnic and indeed the state proud. Ibadan Book Club also assured that Oyin-Adejobi Omotolani Sadia’s creative writing experience would accord her all the needed support to succeed bringing to bear her diverse and rich professional exposure and competencies in discharging her duties as Governing Council Representative, The Polytechnic, Ibadan.

Ibadan Book Feast Set To Hold On Saturday December 24

 

IBADAN BOOK FEAST SET TO HOLD ON SATURDAY DECEMBER 24

 

The much-awaited end of the year party of Ibadan Book Club (IBC) holds on Saturday, 24th day of December, 2022. The event will be hosting four Ibadan based writers. The writers are: Chima Ogoke, Temidayo Olaleye, Olaleye Rukayat and  Aliu Kazeem.

 

A statement issued by both the Coordinator and Secretary of the club, Ayobami Odunyemi and Ayoade Hassanat said the event would take place at the Oyo State Library Board, Opposite Cocoa House, Ibadan by 12PM prompt.

 

Below are the short profiles of Ibadan Book Club’s Guest Writers for the month of December, 2022.

 

Chima Ogoke is a literary enthusiast who expresses his literary creativity through the poetic and prosaic medium. He is the author of Dark Prize (a novella). His poems have appeared in many anthologies.

 

Temidayo Olaleye is a writer of various genres such as paranormal, contemporary, Christian and historical romance, crime and suspense. She is a poet of vivid expressive words and imagery. She loves to inject humour and hidden morals in her works. She has written a lot of books some of which are self published on Amazon KDP and Selar. She is a graduate of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile Ife, Nigeria with a degree in biochemistry. While as an undergraduate, she served as the editor-in-chief of the department’s Newsletter and was nominated for the award of best writer at the faculty level. Apart from writing, she loves reading, singing, travelling, learning and trying out new things every day. She likes to meet new people though she mostly enjoys her solitude. She is goal oriented and yet loves adventures.

 

Olaleye Rukayat is a member of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers. She is also the foundation Secretary of Ibadan Book Club. Rukayat is also a Fellow of the Ebedi Writers Residency.

 

Aliu Kazeem is a prolific Writer, tourist and a staunch supporter of the Edebi Writers Residency.  He is also a member of different literary groups including Iseyin Book Club.

 

The upcoming book reading event promises to be an avenue for reading creative works such as poetry, fiction, book sales and signing, contacts with other readers and book writers in all corners of the Oyo State, the statement added.

 

Prospective writers who have works in poetry, short stories and novels can also attend to read their works to other writers and readers. Membership forms and certificate of membership will be available at no charge to first timers.

 

Ibadan Book Club is an initiative of the Nigerian Young Writers Society. It was founded in 2011 by SYNW in order to contribute its own quota to the growth and development of the Reading Culture in Oyo State.

Ibadan Book Prize: IBC To Award And Recognize Deserving Writers

 

IBADAN BOOK PRIZE: IBC TO AWARD AND RECOGNIZE DESERVING WRITERS

 

Ibadan Book Club, one of the book clubs of the Society of Young Nigerian Writers (SYNW) is to award and recognize deserving members and organizations for supporting the club in achieving its target and for their impact and contributions in promoting reading and writing culture in Oyo State.

 

This was contained in a statement signed by the Coordinator of the Club, Mrs. Ayobami Odunyemi in Ibadan on Tuesday.

 

According to her, the award was meant to encourage Ibadan Book Club members and appreciate other book stakeholders like the Oyo State Library Board, Oyo State Branch of the National Library of Nigeria, SUBEB, Oyo State Ministry of Education to mention but few.

 

The shortlisted recipients will be recognized during the 2022 edition of Ibadan Book Feast. 

 

Since the beginning of this literary year, Ibadan Book Club has featured over twenty writers/Guest lecturers including Artists, interviewed over fifteen writers, collated a poetry anthology which is currently undergoing editing, it also held Ibadan Writers Conference.
